The Benefits of SEO for a Fitness Brand

The business models for gyms around the world are evolving and changing rapidly each day. Traditional ways of marketing your business/gym are rarely used in comparison to digital. 

Let me give you a simple example. When people are looking for gyms near their area, they don't review each local newspaper. Instead, they simply ask Google.  

If gyms want to reach the top of the first page of Google, they would need to work on their SEO.SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. This is the process of successfully swaying the SERPs in your favour so that your website acquires a higher ranking on Google for your target search terms. 

Gyms implement this in their digital strategy and gain many benefits from it. Firstly, SEO allows you to be more target-driven. It allows you to target your website and advertisements towards an audience that is more inclined to purchase your services, gym memberships, etc. Instead of the traditional mass marketing ways of casting a wide net trying to catch as much as possible,  SEO gives you a competitive advantage by offering higher rankings and visibility.  When you implement an effective SEO strategy, it will help bring organic traffic to your website.

When your website ranks high on a Google search, it gives you some way of credibility to your business. Firstly, very few people scroll past the first page when they search. When you see websites listed on that page, it gives a sense of trust and credibility. 

SEO is a 24/7 promotional tool. Unlike TV, radio, etc, your advert will not end straight away or be on at a certain time. SEO is constantly working for when a user searches for a particular product. SEO allows your page to be ‘found’ by customers when they search for something related to your services. Going back to the example in the introduction, asking google for gyms in the area. 

SEO results are completely quantifiable, so you can base your marketing strategy on analytics and metrics instead of shooting in the dark.  You can check the analytics to see what SEO keywords you should target at a particular time of the year.  For example, in January, when more people might want to sign-up for gym memberships. 

To conclude, SEO offers multiple advantages for fitness websites and brands. If used correctly, it can pave the way for massive long-term growth. Brands that invest in SEO can build credibility and trust with audiences, making it a pivotal part of a digital marketing plan.
